New Publication: 'Music & dancing at Castletown, Co. Kildare, 1759-1821'

This book, published by Four Courts Press, is a significant public outcome of the ongoing collaboration between the National University of Ireland Maynooth and the Office of Public Works.

The launch of Music and dancing at Castletown, Co. Kildare, 1759-1821, will take place at Castletown on Wednesday 7 December 2011 at 8 p.m.

As part of the launch event, Dr Mullaney-Dignam will deliver a short lecture, 'The residence of true Irish hospitality': social life at Castletown in the late 18th century, which will be chaired by Professor Fiona Palmer, Head of the Department of Music at NUI Maynooth. The book will be officially launched by Dr Terence Dooley, Director of the Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses & Estates (CSHIHE) at NUI Maynooth.

This event will be held in the newly-restored Stable Wing 'Hunting Room' at Castletown. Vehicle access to the house is via Exit 6, Celbridge West N4/M4. Parking in the Stable Wing Courtyard.

PLEASE NOTE: Admission is free and no booking is required but seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Patrons are requested to be seated by 7.50pm. Join us for tea/coffee after the lecture.
